Types of Dentures

If you're missing most or all of your teeth, Newport Family Dental Care can help find the best restorative solution for your needs. The types of high-quality dentures we offer at our Newport dental office include:

Traditional Removable Dentures

Full dentures

Full Dentures

Patients who are missing all of their teeth or need to replace all remaining teeth due to trauma or decay will benefit from a set of full dentures. Full dentures (also known as complete dentures) consist of an entire arch of prosthetic teeth set in an acrylic base designed to look like your gums. Our dentists can immediately place a set of temporary dentures after performing extractions due to our 3D printing technology. While your gums heal, we work on your custom permanent restoration, crafted to fit the exact specifications of your smile and look virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Partial dentures

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures, also known as partials, are a great option for patients who still have healthy teeth that don't need replacing. The partial denture secures to the natural teeth with clasps and a metal framework, giving the prosthetic additional support and stability. The restoration fits among your existing teeth and is designed to match the size, shape, color, and overall aesthetics. We offer fixed partial dentures that are cemented into your dental arch and stay in place, and removable partial dentures that you can take out your mouth to clean and while you sleep.

Partial Dentures Fit Comfortably Into Your Smile

Dentures can be highly customized to fit your needs. If you still have some healthy teeth remaining in your jaw, we will tailor your replacement teeth to complete your bite and bring harmony to your facial features.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Experience Stability and Comfort

The dentists at Newport Family Dental Care of Newport, TN, have undergone additional training to provide top-of-the-line dental implants. These titanium implants are replacement tooth roots that anchor your denture to your jawbone, eliminating the risk of instability and slipping out of place. Furthermore, dental implants stimulate the tissue in the jawbone, preventing the bone recession that occurs with long-term tooth loss. For the right candidates, implant-supported dentures are the ultimate long-term solution, providing patients with maximum stability and dental function.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Take a Look at the Procedure

Dental implants are surgically placed in areas of the jawbone with the most density to maximize their stability. They are then connected to your custom denture, restoring your teeth above the gumline.

Mini Dental Implants  Alternative Support for Dentures

Mini dental implants are a less invasive alternative to traditional dental implants, consisting of smaller posts. These smaller implants can be placed with just local anesthesia and do not require sutures or extensive recovery periods. In fact, our dentists can place your implant-supported restoration immediately, on the same day as the procedure. While mini dental implants are not for everyone, they can be a great option for patients unable to undergo invasive surgery or who cannot support standard-sized implants due to bone loss.

What Can I Expect to Pay?

We pride ourselves on charging a fair value for all of our restorative services and strive to make treatment as affordable as possible. Traditional dentures can run anywhere between $1,000 to $3,000, depending on the individual factors of your treatment. Implant-supported denture treatment is more expensive, not necessarily due to the restorations, but because of the implants themselves. Implants cost about $2,000 to $4,000 per unit.

We accept dental insurance and will be happy to work directly with your provider to secure maximum coverage for your care. While implants are typically not insured, restorations both traditional and implant-supported usually have some amount of coverage. You can finance remaining out-of-pocket expenses through CareCredit® or Quality Dental Plan, allowing you to make little-to-no-interest monthly payments on treatment.

What Is the Best Value? Long-Term Treatment Considerations

It is important to think about the long-term results before deciding on your treatment and type of denture. While removable restorations are lower in cost at face value, dental implants are a great investment that can pay off in the long run. By preventing oral health conditions such as gum recession and bone atrophy, implants can save you from expensive restorative procedures in the future. Furthermore, implant-supported dentures tend to last longer than their removable counterparts and will need fewer replacements over the course of a lifetime. Implants themselves can last the rest of your life.

Consultation

We take pride in our level of personalized care and spend time learning about your oral health and goals for treatment. During your consultation, our dentists will examine your smile, take high-tech X-rays, and discuss the course of your custom treatment plan.

Preliminary Procedures

Patients receiving traditional dental implants may need to undergo a few procedures to place and prepare the implants. Mini dental implants require one surgery and can be fit with a restoration the same day. While traditional dentures do not require preparatory procedures, some patients might need extractions or other treatment first to improve their oral health.

Design

Using the detailed molds and digital scans of your mouth, we artfully and strategically design your permanent denture. The blueprints and your impressions are then sent off to our trusted dental lab, where specially trained technicians create the restoration. In the meantime, we will provide you with a temporary denture to wear after your procedures, made in about an hour using our state-of-the-art 3D printing technology.

Placement

In about two weeks, your permanent denture will be ready. We will schedule you back into the office to have it fit and adjusted as needed. Once you are completely satisfied with the look and feel of the denture, your treatment is complete.

Caring for Your Denture Making Your Dentistry Solution Last

Traditional dentures typically last 5-7 years and implant-supported dentures typically last 10-20 years. To make the most of your treatment with our Newport dentists and make your denture last as long as possible, we recommend caring for your solution properly, starting with at-home care.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Your implant-supported denture can be cared for as you would care for natural teeth. Brush the denture twice a day with a soft-bristle toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste. Pay special attention to your dental implants and be sure to brush around them thoroughly. You can use a floss threader to clean under your denture and around your implants.

Removable Dentures

Your removable partial or complete denture should be taken out for cleaning. Use warm water, a soft-bristle toothbrush, and denture cleanser to clean your denture. Be sure to also clean your gums when you brush your teeth. You should take your denture out every night and soak it in a denture solution to thoroughly clean it and give your gums a break.

Are Your Dentures Broken? We Do In-Office Repairs

If you’ve dropped your denture or damaged it in any way, don't try to fix it yourself. Simply collect the pieces and bring them to our Newport office. We can often perform in-office repairs and have your denture back to you quickly. In certain cases, we may have to send your denture out to a dental lab for repairs.
